These jolly little birdies are made from embossed copper sheet with pretty china wings, twirled brass beaded tails and soldered tin beaks, the chick is perched upon a copper tree then all assembled on a piece of vintage china tea plate with handmade flowers and finished in crystalline verdigris. It is mounted and signed on acid free off white card in a cream contemporary style open grain wooden box frame, 230mm x 280mm.
Being the mother of two very energetic little boys who love climbing the trees in the countryside around my cottage, I have great sympathy for the birdie in the picture, watching her chick on his first flight. Not wanting to smother them and encouraging their independence but at the same time worried they will fall.
